hey "blumpblump"....she sounded like Old Auntie! maybe all lady bosses are like that? being a female, bascially they command the respect and with their office status can be deadly if not properly used...lol. oh no...Old Auntie dont show her weakness but shows her power in things she knows and loudly broadcast others weakness! little does she know she's lucky that she "can be put down" but just say she has her luck? bottom line is, whatever a person does, never harm their rice bowl unless its necessary and never ever harm their family welfare. it would be unforgiveable if one does. someone told me 'the law is here to deter' but there is the 'unwritten law' which has nothing to deter but everything to encourage once its invoked! meaning is simple 'talk outside'? for eveyone is only human and need to eat, sleep and release? we are sometimes so obessed with our feelings about such but forget to see 'the other side'. meaning its a normal for such behaviour, why bother? just take care of our emotional and physical health for there is not another but jobs there are always others! as for the ugly bosses...they have only one life and there are ppl they love. losing them is something they cant handle, no matter how strong they are! for they are only humans! if they do forget!
000000369 (3stepsback) | 29 hugs (hug)
hey "ladyboss"...know exactlyhow you feel and you are right...no need to be such as eberybody has parents too and here to work. and so does she! she sounded like Old Auntie...are you from the same department....lol. ultimate thing is never ever fear her if you are right and even if you are not, its only work. acting such a way is showing their weakness and never gaining respect but fear and resentment from fellow collegues and suppliers. fear is they need the job and her approval. end of the day, she will only be a lonely old hag and without respect and never mentioned if ever fondly. learn from the experience and never do so if you are a supervisor...know how you should act and the feelings of your surbodinates?
000000368 (3 stepsback) | 20 hugs (hug)
hey "think" you deserve a thousand hugs! yes its a great thought! but sometimes it takes 2 hands to clap to have unpleasantness with domestic helpers (maids). and of course cant agree with you more...no point in mistreating them but terminate their contract for that humane too? great to know, we have someone like you out there!
000000367 (3stepsback) | 35 hugs (hug)
hi Victimised...its a reality of today of "new blood" in management and running things differently. as someone told me "one day's work and one day's pay, dont expect praise for you are paid". sad enough all are true...recent trend of hiring younger and foreign and forsaking the old staff are all true. the old fashioned phrases "loyalty", "faithfullness" are all gone and everyone suddenly turned soldier of fortune and working for who pays most and employers paying less! seems we "old gurads" have to adapt and be smart and not devote too much into our work but take care of health and family. there are much more in connection buttoo sensative to write...magic word is "look forward and never forget one's well being and family too"! nowadays never look back at what we have achieved and strive for the company but look forward to a better future and to be selfish. dare to speak up and never show our fear and weakness for majoorty of management looked down on senior aged workers always daring them to leave if not happy!
000000366 (3stepsback) | 27 hugs (hug)
hi waitfordeath, know how you feel but dont do anything foolish unless it really worth it, know what I mean? if you like to record, there are many cheap alternatives and make it worth while and work, leasts he will get back at you! since colleagues dont encourage you to do it, then dont. unless you have a fail proof plan and that will do them a favour too? yes...nothing is free and retribution will beset on her if what she does is all "wrong". alike Old Auntie, maybe hers is not being a grandmother....knows its cruel but maybe that part of retribution she's having. have personally seen and heard of some former section heads getting it after retirement. just take care of yourself and family and your future too!
000000365 (WAITFORDEATH) | 32 hugs (hug)
I am still stuck in office, serving the notice while been traumatized constantly. With no support, I am unable to expose the threats and the mental abuse from the manager. The only evidence is those CPF acknowledgement that reflected her uploading but I am unable to produce any verbal recordings of her abuse and threats. And no one approves of my intention to expose her to the top management... all tell me that she will have her retribution wor... as if lor... as if GOD is fair... sigh
000000364 (3stepsback) | 29 hugs (hug)
hooray! am officially out of Old Auntie's team but not out of harm's way! that old IT idiot called me after checking my former office, retrieving the data drive and passed remark that salesman is not needed in her team and client can do the job and will proof to the management. a simple undying attempt to hit me but mind her! at all the salesman too...she's implying soon we will run out of a job...silly old maid...who is she gona supevise if all her surbordinates are gone! senile isnt she! as they say "empty vessels makes the most noise" and she is!
000000363 (3stepsback) | 28 hugs (hug)
well Old Auntie is other than back at her old petty ways. she sent an email to all internal support staff, broadcasting am not in her team and not to correspondence with me. smart of her or getting old and senile of not including the clients and the internal staff that compiles the sales report! expect me to run the externals ales without internal admin support and also expect me to churn out the reports! guess is as good as any..any shit and cock-up is me and face the "music"...her creation and she's the composer! how narrow minded and petty can a 60 yr old woman be!

Old Auntie was at it again. she asked one of the salesman to tell another that he spelt advise without an "c" instead of an "s" but aloud and all the section managers and salesman hear it all! why the loud broadcast and anouncement? is it to shame the salesman whom is in his 60's too? also commented that she feared her salesman might not know what to do during office hours and needed her guidance! last but not least client complaint thru her and first reaction was why her name was indicated and not salesman? as ususal made a "hoo har" later was narrowed down to another team. what a disgrace for being a manager and treating her team members so? never ever hear other section managers utter aword about their clients!
000000361 (3stepsback) | 36 hugs (hug)
hi "pregnant lady" sorry to hear of your encounter and good to have a supporting hubby. you did the right thing for this type of boss and sorry to say company is not worth serving! sarcastic . . . you bet! have this Old Auntie section manager whom would pas the word "he is such a young man and seeing the doctor so regularly". she was refering to my constant leave. little does she know am accompanying mum to the hospital for her failing kidneys check up and her regular old age associated health problems. once my daughter had a high fever for 5 days and due to work pressure had to go back till wife objected. while preparing to sent daughter to hospital. call the Old Auntie for urgent leave. she refuses to listen to my call! talking while while I am! if i dont inform her...another sarcastic remark and maybe a sack! talking about care and concern and welfare? and for a 60 yr old lady with a grown up doctor son! lost all respect for her from then!
000000360 (pregnantlady) | 46 hugs (hug)
After 5 years at this job, I became pregnant and advised by my boss, prepared a manual and for whichever part-time would take over my duties during my maternity leave. I scheduled a meeting with the boss, and my supervisor, to discuss my proposed leave (2 months). I had not even started when the boss told me that if they could do without me for 10 weeks, I wasn't needed at all, and that it was ridiculous that women stayed out longer than two weeks to have a baby. He went on in this bitching for 20 minutes. KMA (Kiss-My-Ass), I just tendered and ask him how he was born in the first place. So much for loyalty. My husband has full support with me too. Anyone had such sarcastic boss?
000000359 (3stepsback) | 43 hugs (hug)
hi "pissoff". dont be bother with comments and critisms. if its company policy to give 3 months notice regardless of traning and you have decided...so be it.they would have added conditions if it were to be so? talking about "betraying" isnt she betraying the company with such supervision style and causing employees to leave? forget about MOM regulations, even if you complain and being a single person, they would rather let you go than offend the big companies? dont loose heart, learn from experience and be the better next job. and best of all...if you ever manage surbordinates, you know what to avoid?
000000358 (3stepsback) | 33 hugs (hug)
this 60 yr old lady section manager, whom talks at the top of her voice even during telephone conversations. she is always right and surbordinates always takes the blame. fellow section managers will get critised if they missed any procedures. she cannot allow anyone or anything to be better than her either in work or personal life! work mistakes are always blamed on surbordinates and she carries the Bosses like her father. she puts people down and breaks affects their carreer advancements and previously few have resigned because of her. supplies nearly went bankrupt and loses money in supplies. she is petty...arrogant...and plain old fashioned rude. after office hours, she would bad mouth colleagues and surbodinates to the manager and spread it even to suppliers. how this type of people can survive is sheer luck and will she suffer any retribution? maybe outside law in getting someone to beat her to hospital is too cheap for her? seems we need people like her to make us appreciate good people?
000000357 (WAITFORDEATH) | 43 hugs (hug)
I started working in this LOCAL listed company in 2008. Despite been listed, it still runs in a very much manual n insensitive way. Everyday I suffers under an higher authority whom always screams n yells n knocks on the wall to ask me over instead of using interco phone Everyday someone in the dept will surely get scoldings for something not her or his fault. This authority and her most senior staff like to use threats and finger pointing to work around their way. This authority even threatens me and tell me to get ready to be killed by the MD the next day when she misinterprets my budget preparation. This authority also made me TWICE scapegoats for her own negligent mistakes. While serving my 1 month notice, she also poses threats to me making me so traumatised that every night I have nightmares and cant sleep well And worst was I cant even payback notice now to leave fast as I am not covered under the employment ACT. I just have to carry on been traumatised and suffer while working.

Hi Pissedoff, My sentiments goes with you. Singapore retention of locals are diminishing and more are now in overseas. Most of the jobs are fulfilling especially those in social services (eg. nurses, counseling etc). Sometime a wonderful job is jeopardize by bad management especially those with IQ but no EQ. Those people can remember anything from A-Z but when it comes to people management.... Of course, not to mention the incentives and recognition which is way overdue...
000000355 (pissedoff) | 121 hugs (hug)
Hi lancer, thanks for the encouragement. I frankly love my career choice and find it very fulfilling, but it's the poor management and benefits for medical staff that is appalling in Singapore. I think the government needs to take a good hard look at the labour laws. Young people now are highly mobile and will go to wherever they feel happier with their careers, so if uncle sam wants to blame everyone for quitting on singapore then they need to wake up.
000000354 (lancer) | 121 hugs (hug)
Hi Pissedoff, i think healthcare careers in Singapore do not pay as much as overseas, like Australia. I think we should give more incentives to nurses and ground staff in medical industries. There's this poster in MRT praising about nurses and i really felt heart warming to have them around. Properly it's time to look for a greener pasture. Hang on there...
000000353 (pissedoff) | 118 hugs (hug)
i work for a prestigious private hospital with lots of celebrities, but the pay is so miserable it's unbelievable..less than 2K for uni grad in nursing. also have to work sat half days, rotational sunday and public holidays, of which time-off is less than that suggested by MOM. on top of that i got a female boss who is old n single and absolutely irritating and very tactless she makes conversation with her feel like a negotiation for me. i got fed up so i send in my resignation letter with 3 months notice (do ppl haf notice period that long??) and i got the 'we trained you and you are betraying us' line from her which is absolutely unprofessional. what is wrong with leaving when i'm unhappy with the work conditions and environment? and a look at MOM guidelines show that singapore is so far behind in protecting employees rights. no wonder all the young people are leaving for overseas!
000000352 (chamchamcham) | 127 hugs (hug)
my boss is a long winded oldman...he likes to boost about how good he is n keep on lecturing ppl HOW to become human... he have no friends...so he keep on looking for subordinates/staff like us to talk about LIFE...how to be successful in like..he likes to say UNDER ME I DUN GUARANTEE U WILL BE RICH,BUT I CAN GUARANTEE U CAN BE SUCCESSFUL IN LIFE...after every lecturing..he ends up asking PPL to join CLASS/SEMINAR conducted by HIS friend..the cost is more than 1k... FUCK him...wanna earn money also dun look for staff lah...we earn peanuts..end up have to ENTERTAIN him?? everyone scold him behind him but he thought he is very POPULAR..haha.. he liked ppl calling him BOSS n he always find ways to talk to new ppl to fulfil his SEMINAR QUOTA...

Hi Sugarchoc, hang on there, you will have our support... Some female bosses are quite hard to handle, others are great especially if they had been through what we have done and they will appreciate it. It's just unfortunate that these 2 lady bosses are exploiting u and hope you are keeping a look out on the job market. Cheer up!
